RKR Takes Top Honor at the AGC Build Georgia Ceremony
R. K. Redding Construction Builds on Success by Taking Top Honor at the AGC Build Georgia Ceremony for Alexander High School Competition Gymnasium
HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC (June 11, 2016) R. K. Redding Construction (RKR) has received a top honor for the ninth year in a row from AGC Georgia, the statewide chapter of The Associated General Contractors of America, Inc. (AGC of America). The award was presented to RKR President & CEO Randall Redding at the AGC Build Georgia awards ceremony in Hilton Head Island, SC. The firm's work on the Alexander High School Competition Gymnasium was recognized with a First Place Award in the construction management division.
"In a situation that is all too familiar to schools around the country, Alexander High School had outgrown its gymnasium and was in need of a new venue that matched the school's rich sports tradition," said Redding. "By working closely with the client throughout the process, we were able to discover savings opportunities without compromising their vision. RKR was honored to be a part in helping this community provide a venue large enough to hold the entire school at a single time, but is also serving as a home for larger community-wide events."
The two-story, 55,678 square foot venue was built in only 16 months and with a savings of more than $250,000 that was able to be returned to the school. Challenges from grading to veneer were met head-on. With over 6 feet of rain during construction, the RKR Team worked diligently and creatively to not only stay on schedule but, ultimately, finish four months early. This state of the art facility exemplifies teamwork from the all sides: Owner, Architect, CM, Subs/Suppliers, School staff, Students and Community.
Recent AGC Georgia Awards for RKR include the following projects: Roopville Road Baptist Church Worship Center (2015), West Georgia Technical College Allied Healthcare Building (2014), Trinka Davis Veterans Village (2013), GT Boggs NRE Lab Renovation and UWG Campus Bookstore (2012), Paulding County High School Addition/Renovation (2011), UWG Greek Village (2010), North Paulding School Cluster (2009) and Rockmart Middle School (2008).
